Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL-7) appeared on Meet The Press with Chuck Todd. She toed the Democratic Establishment line on Medicare for All, a disservice to her constituents.
Terri Sewell on Meet The Press with Chuck Todd
Congresswoman Sewell’s 7th Congressional District has 76 thousand people with no health insurance coverage, 284 thousand with public coverage and 363 thousand with private health insurance. Medicare for All would improve the quality of life and disposable income for her constituents based on those numbers.
Chuck Todd attempted to get Representative Sewell’s position on Medicare for all. She toed the line like a good neoliberal Democrat, concerned more for the monied interest than her own constituents. She parroted the Partnership for America’s Health Care Future just like they would want her to do.
I think that we should take the Affordable Care Act and expand it. You know, I represent Alabama, where I have a lot of access issues. There’s so many Americans in my district that don’t have any healthcare insurance —

These politicians are playing a dangerous game. Too many people who would otherwise be open to voting for Democrats will likely stay home as they see very little reason to do so. What these neoliberals are offering is just more of the same that allows private insurance companies and the Healthcare Industrial Complex to continue pilfering Americans.
